DG39662: The name of a second East Coast franchise holder fades into history alongside that of its predecessor on the body-side of 91118 at Kings Cross today.
DG39870: Virgin Trains have been busy putting up posters explaining that photography is allowed on all their stations. This is one of several at Preston.
DG39097: Charlbury station on the Cotswolds line. Soon this section will have double track reinstated and the station will once again have two platforms and a footbridge.
Welcome to my website, which currently contains over 14,200 images from all over the world.

12/8/08 STOP PRESS: NEW FEATURE....
From today I'm going to add a featured gallery. This will be one from the archives which will be changed every week. The idea is to showcase some of the older galleries which people may not know exist.

ABOUT ME
I'm a freelance professional photographer and writer who specialises in railways, photojournalism and travel. My work appears in national and foreign newspapers and magazines, the railway press, Lonely Planet guidebooks and other travel guides, trade journals and social issues magazines, amongst others.
I also provide pictures for National and International charities, showcasing their events, sponsors, clients or work in the field.
As well as maintaining my own picture library of over 100.000 pictures, I have images in the Lonely Planet and Photofusion picture libraries.
BUYING PICTURES
All my pictures are available for commercial use. For details, please contact me at: www.paulbigland@hotmail.com
Please note that the rates on the 'buy pictures' button at the bottom of each picture are prices for individuals purchasing prints for their private use and don't reflect commercial photography prices, which are available on request.
COMMISSIONS
As well as the media, I've worked for most of the companies in the railway industry (TOC and FOC) plus the DfT, ATOC, NR, Alstom, Siemens, Hitachi, independent operators and charter companies and many more. I hold a current ac/dc lines PTS and also a LUL track access pass.
If you would like to discuss commissioning me for any work, please contact me at paulbigland@ hotmail.com or ring me on 07753 988507
COPYRIGHT
Unless otherwise identified, all pictures are my copyright. This will be strictly enforced and I will take appropriate action against any breach of this - up to and including legal action through the courts. Any unauthorised use (commercial or otherwise) in any type of media (including electronic) will be invoiced at a rate of GBP 500 (Five Hundred pounds Sterling) for each photograph used.
PLEASE NOTE:
If you wish to buy copies of pictures (or mouse mats or mugs etc) for non-commercial use, you can do this on-line through Fotopic. However, most of the pictures on my site haven't been scanned as very large files, so they're not really suitable for anything above 6 x 4 and you might be disappointed at the quality. If you'd like a picture/poster larger than this, please email me and I'll scan it as a very large file and add it to the site - then you can have your poster!
I hope that you enjoy the galleries. I have over 15.000 railway slides, plus a growing archive of over 50,000 digital images. The site is being constantly updated - I add the most topical, historic, interesting, artistic or unusual as often as I can.
AIMS
As a photojournalist, my intention is to illustrate the whole spectrum of railway life. I want to give people a feel for the railways as an industry, showing all its different aspects including the human one. The railways are an ever-changing and developing industry and the website will reflect that.
Please check-out the older galleries as well as the more recent ones. There are galleries dedicated to subjects such as rail development, railway people, withdrawn locos, departmental vehicles, abandoned railways, signalling, enthusiasts - as well as the traditional shots of different locomotives classes.
